MEET OUR MISSIONARIES

  • THE DOWNINGS

Though we are third and fourth generation missionaries we never wanted to be missionaries – until we did the “Experiencing God” devotional by Henry Blackaby. This devotional, along with many other “nudging’s” from the Holy Spirit convinced us that we had not surrendered this portion of our lives to God. Understanding better God’s plan for our lives we pursued missions, out of faith and obedience, and, after two years of learning French and Chadian Arabic, landed in Chad in 2006.

Scott and Susan were both born and grew up in Zaire (now Democratic Republic of Congo).  Scott has a degree in construction management and Susan in Elementary Education. Though we went to first grade together and our parents served on the same mission field throughout our school years we didn’t “notice” each other until college, eventually marrying in 1997.

It was while we lived in Orlando, attending OBC, that we heard God’s voice and call to missions. We prayed for the Holy Spirit’s prompting an excitement in our hearts for an unreached area. That’s when we read about the Salamat Region in Chad. A profound passion grew in our hearts for these people we had never met. God has allowed us to work in Chad for the last 16 years.

Our ministry is driven by our vision, which is to establish an indigenous, culturally sensitive, reproducing church of Jesus Christ in each of the seven people groups in the Salamat region of southeast Chad.

  • THE HUDGINS

Scott and Kristi, along with their four children, Joy, Chandler, Chad and Chase, served as cross-

cultural church planters with the Baptist Bible Fellowship International for 18 years in the

Middle East and Colombia. While in Latin America, God allowed their ministry to expand

beyond Colombia as they challenged Latin Americans to embrace the Great Commission. They

now lead The Latin Initiative which has the goal of equipping Latin Americans to go to

unreached people groups with the Gospel and plant churches. Through MANNA Worldwide,

they oversee cross-cultural training and mobilization in Central and South America.

  • THE TRILLS

God has called Justin & Becka along with their son Henry to the country of Thailand. God called each of them individually before bringing them together as a family to reach the lost in Thailand. Initially, they will partner with veteran missionaries as they learn and adapt to the Thai culture and language. Their mission in the future is to plant more churches. Their sending church is New Testament Baptist in Largo, FL where Justin's dad is the Pastor. They serve under the umbrella of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International (BBFI).

Thailand is known as the land of smiles. Most people are genuinely happy to meet you. It is a country about the size of Texas with about 70 million people. But with less than 1 percent of the population claiming Christ, if the rapture were to happen today nobody would notice. 99 percent would go on living as though nothing ever happened. We feel God has called us to "bring Hope to the Hopeless in Thailand".
