Good Evening Church Family,

As you know, the last couple of days have been unprecedented as concerns about the Corona Virus continue to grow. Yesterday, our plan was to gather this Sunday as a church, however upon further consideration we have decided to suspend our "In Person" worship gathering for this Sunday. As a church we want to do all that we can to love and serve our church family and our greater community well. Right now, I believe the way we can love one another best is by doing all that we can to prevent the spread of this virus.

No doubt some of you are relieved to hear this. Others of you may feel that we are overreacting. The truth is there is not a clear right or wrong answer in this matter. As we learned several years ago in our study of the book of Proverbs, the best question we can ask is, "What is the wise thing to do?" Please know that we have been wrestling with this decision and seeking much counsel.

We will still be having and "online" service tomorrow at 10:30. You will be able to watch through our Orlando Baptist facebook page, or through our website (See links below for your convenience). We will have a time of worship through song, a time of Bible study, and a time of prayer. You can even give online (see link below). I hope you will make plans to join us online. You will also be able to interact with your church family by commenting on the livestream.

In the days ahead, we will continue to keep you updated on how we will move forward as a church. We will also be looking for ways to serve our community during this time. Please be praying for our church, our community, and our nation as we deal with this crisis. I am praying for each of you as you have opportunities to shine the light of Jesus to those around you. I love you church!

God Bless,

Dustin

3.13.20 @ 5:30pm

Orlando Baptist Church Family,

I want to take a few minutes to address the news and concerns around COVID-19 (Corona Virus) and let you know how we are dealing with this situation as a church. We have seen this situation change dramatically over the past several days. We are keeping up to date with all important information and recommendations from government agencies. We will weigh all of the information as we make decisions. We are praying for wisdom and clarity as we seek the appropriate response to what has become a global pandemic. It is our desire to honor God in all that we do - even our response to this situation.

We understand that many parts of our community will be affected by this crisis - from schools and churches to our workplaces and healthcare systems. We will be looking for ways to "love our neighbors" during this time. We are praying for you as you make decisions as well for how to respond to this virus. How we react as a church and as individual believers will communicate much to those around us about what we truly believe. We want to encourage you with the following steps and recommendations as we move forward together.

  • Remember that God is aware and involved in our lives. We don't have to live in fear. Parents, it is especially important that we model this for our kids.
  • We WILL be meeting this Sunday, March 15. (That is the plan for now...)
  • 9am Bible Study Hour
  • 10:30am Worship Service
  • 10:30am OBC Kids Worship Service (All of our children's ministry leaders are committed to the cleanliness and safety of our ministry environment. We will leave conversations about this situation up to your discretion.)
  • NO Heritage Service
  • 6pm Young Adult Meeting
  • Should we need to close the church building (because someone in our congregation is diagnosed with coronavirus or our community is hard hit), we will immediately attempt to communicate with you via church email, Facebook and Instagram, and text. We are making an extra effort to sanitize hard surfaces within the building and other ministry spaces.
  • Disinfectant stations are available for your use in entry areas to the buildings (please do not take them home).
  • Please stay home if you feel unwell (i.e., dry cough, fever, aches).
  • Please stay home if you have a compromised immune system.
  • We ask you to restrict "meet and greet" hugs and handshakes to smiles and waves only. (Introverts rejoice!)
  • The offering during service will be collected in secured locked canisters at the exit doors; we will not be passing the offering baskets. We encourage you to consider online giving here.
  • Should you decide to self-isolate or avoid church services during this season, please call us at 407.277.8671 or email us so we can stay in contact with you. Our offices are closed next week for Spring Break, and we are still available to pray with you, even if we must do so over the phone.
  • Like every week, our service will be livestreamed. You can find it the following ways:
  • This direct link takes you to our Church Online Platform
  • The Livestream Button through the Prayer Presence Power banner on your OBC App
  • Click the "Watch Live" Button at OrlandoBaptist.com/Watch
  • Via Facebook Live on our Orlando Baptist Church Facebook page
  • Please contact the church immediately if you are diagnosed with CoronaVirus so we can communicate that to the remainder of the church family and take appropriate next steps.

I am praying for you and our church in this season. I would ask you to please do the same. We will all have different reactions to this situation. Let's extend grace and compassion to one another as we process this together. I love you, and I am so grateful for you.

God Bless,

Pastor Dustin
