One of the things I love most about Orlando Baptist Church is the fact that we are multi-generational. Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation will declare Your works to the next.” I am incredibly grateful to see that verse lived out in our church body. It is so encouraging to see our older generations continuously investing in the next generations in our church. From families that run four generations deep in the church, to families who are brand new to the church or even to faith, we all have a role to play in investing in the next generation.

What started as a small group of believers meeting in an old farmhouse on our current property in 1957 has grown to be a multicultural, multi-generational church body that has had an incredible impact in Orlando and around the world over the past 64 years. One of the many ways that that first generation of church members provided for those who would come after them was by sacrificially investing in facilities where families could come together to worship.

While we are quick to point out that the church is not a building but rather the people, we are also quick to acknowledge the blessing of a place to gather. Our campus has seen many changes to the facilities and property over the decades. Many who are still part of this church family were instrumental in helping to see those changes come about.

The pastoral team and deacons have prayerfully asked the Lord to direct us to what is next for our church, and we are excited to tell you that part of that plan includes some much needed renovations to our worship center. The last significant update took place in 2001. It’s hard to believe that was 20 years ago. Our plan includes, but is not limited to, new paint, new carpet, and replacing our pews with new auditorium seating. We can’t wait to share more about it with you.

The total cost for this renovation is $250,000. The good news is, we have already raised part of the funds, but we will need everyone to come together to help us get to our goal. We can’t do it alone. We are calling this our NEXT fund, as we believe it is an investment in the next generation of our church. Please consider how you can be a part of the next thing the Lord has in store for us. We believe these changes are vital as we look to the future and do our part to maintain our church building, not only for our children and grandchildren, but also for those who have yet to hear the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
